APRI PRESENTS: Interview with Contemporary Romance and YA Urban Fantasy Author Suzy Turner

ABOUT THE AUTHOR - SUZY TURNER

Although Suzy is a Yorkshire lass at heart, she left her home town of Rotherham, UK, to move to
Portugal with her family when she was ten. The Algarve continues to be her home, where she lives
with her childhood sweetheart, Michael, two neurotic dogs and a cat who thinks she's a princess.
Shortly after completing her studies, Suzy was offered the position of trainee journalist for a
local English newspaper. Her love of writing developed and a few years later she moved on to
become assistant editor for the region's largest English language publisher. Since then she has also
worked as the editor of one of the Algarve's most loved monthly lifestyle magazines. Early in 2010
however, Suzy began working as a full time author. She has since written several books: Raven,
December Moon, The Lost Soul (The Raven Saga), Daisy Madigan's Paradise, The Ghost of Josiah
Grimshaw, The Temporal Stone, Looking for Lucy Jo (The Morgan Sisters), Forever Fredless and
And Then There Was You.

APRI: Could you tell us a bit about your path to pulication?

ST: Of course! I actually used to work as a magazine editor but I was made redundant less than a year
into the job because of the economic climate. As I'd already started to write my first YA book
(Raven), it just seemed like the perfect time to try and get it published, so I became a full time
author (cool, huh?). I tried to find an agent but it proved incredibly difficult so I started researching
self-publishing and the rest, as they say, is history! I've published nine novels in totals.

APRI: For you what is the hardest part about being a writer? What do you love about it?

ST: I think the hardest part is marketing and promotion. It's part and parcel of an author's life these days and it's not easy! I love almost everything else about it though. Right at the beginning when I get an idea in my head right through until I write The End. It's enormously satisfying.

APRI: What advice do you have for aspiring young authors (children and teenagers)?

ST: To go for it and dream big! Write what you're passionate about and don't let anyone get you down. You CAN do it, as long as you believe in yourself.

APRI: Can you give us any insights into the stories behind the novels?

ST: Raven was inspired by a visit to Canada in 2009. I was sitting on a glorious beach surrounded
by huge pieces of driftwood and fish kept jumping out of the water in front of me. My mind just
went into overdrive and I started to imagine vampires, changeling and werewolves all hiding in the
forests behind me. It was wonderful!

The Morgan Sisters series was actually inspired by a man I worked with on a movie a couple of
years ago. He was such a great person to be around, really fun, you know? Well, I just knew that I
wanted to create a character based on him. Declan Alexander was born shortly there-after.

APRI: What was your reading life like? Did you have any favorite titles or authors and if so which
ones and why?

ST: I'm a HUGE reader. I just love books so much. I love being taken away deep into my imagination. I've read so many awesome books over the years. However I didn't really discover YA urban fantasy until Harry Potter and Twilight! Since then I read just about anything – YA, chick lit,
contemporary romance, drama, mystery, etc. But my favourite is definitely YA urban fantasy. Some
favourite indie authors include Melissa Pearl, Patti Roberts and Shalini Boland.

APRI: Why did you start writing young adult romance?

ST: Actually my romance books aren't YA, they're more for adults. Although Forever Fredless can be
read by younger readers. I actually started writing FF before Raven... years ago! But I kept stopping
for various reasons. It wasn't until recently that I finally got it done!

APRI: What is your best advice for hopeful YA writers?

ST: YA is HUGE right now. There's potential to reach so many readers because it doesn't just appeal to teenagers, it's also really popular with adults too, especially women. My advice is to read read read. The more YA you read, the better YA writer you'll become.

APRI: What kind of research do you do to write romances?

ST: I haven't done any research for either of my romance novels – all the places they're set in, I've been to. So I guess you could say I wrote from experience :)

APRI: What were you like as a teenager, writing and otherwise?

ST: I was a really well behaved teenager, apparently a nice kid to be around! I wasn't ever particularly
moody and I always helped my dad around the house. My mum died when I was 13, so maybe
that had something to do with it. I didn't write much, except for school but reading? Well, I read
anything I could get my hands on – horror, chick lit, romance, cheesy romance, kids books. I loved
it all!

APRI: Is it possible to find bits of you in your characters? If so which one(s) and which bit(s)?

ST: I think there's probably little parts of me in every character I write. But none are really based on me.

APRI: Where do you work now? How is the space conducive to triggering your imagination?

ST: I'm very fortunate to have the most beautiful little summer house in the garden where I write. It's quite new so I've only written one book in there but I was like a thing possessed! I wrote that first draft in less than a week, so I guess you could say it's the perfect writing nook!

APRI: What about adults interested in breaking into publishing?

ST: My advice is the same as it is for kids. Stay positive, don't let negativity get you down and read as much as you can. Reading is just as important as writing. Oh and never give up. If you are passionate about it then you will succeed.

APRI: What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?

ST:  Oh that's a tough one. I'm not really sure to be honest!

APRI: If you were writing a book about your life what would the title be?

ST: Love Is All Around (that's very cheesy, I know!)

APRI: Favorite quote?

ST: Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new - Albert Einstein

APRI: Does the age of your audience affect how you develop characters or the kind of story you decide to tell?

ST: I actually prefer writing for a younger audience so I'm more used to writing those kind of books than writing for adults so it's when I write adult books that I have to change my mindset! I guess that means I'm still a kid (just a big one!).

APRI: What are you working on now?

ST: I'm currently having a break as I'm going away on vacation very soon (YAY!) but my next book will be something I've been planning over recent weeks. It's another Raven Saga book! Back by popular demand :)

APRI: Is there anything you would like to add?

ST: Just to say thank you so much for this interview. It was really good fun! Oh and Merry Christmas:)

Alternative Public Radio International Update with Kiler Davenport

APRI PRESENTS: United We Stand & Divided We Fall by Kiler Davenport

I woke up this morning after tossing and turning all night long thinking just how many people in the United States have swallowed all the lies of the mainstream media and how many children are being programmed and indoctrinated by their own parents and even extended family. These lies are so deeply ingrained in our culture that it is almost impossible to have a conversation with anyone concerning what some call the New World Order or secret government.

Many of you know that we have an alternative public internet radio station. We serve in our community. We have developed many programs, projects, special events and missions that deal very directly with opening peoples' eyes up to this new way of thinking, looking and acting within this world.

When I look at the station's many facebook pages it makes me sick to my stomach. Cognitive dissidence abounds in many forms, shapes and sizes. Clueless zombies walk these streets like staggering drunks. The nuts are falling from the trees of these clueless, uneducated young women at a staggering rate. Everyone is out for the me, me, me. This culture is two faced, counterfeit, confused, deluded, lazy, spoiled and demented.

As millions are being slaughtered around the world the majority could really care less. As long as you remain in your comfort zones, warm in your little soft beds, addicted to your microwaves, bound to your big screens, tucked away in your narrow mindedness.

Our children are being taught that nothing is wrong. They follow the examples of their parents and they follow the examples of their friends who have clueless parents. My dad used to call it the blind leading the blind. Many of you do not realize that we have passed the point of no return. We have dug ourselves a bottomless pit. We have fallen off the deep end into the abyss. If you all could only stop for a moment and think. I mean really think about what I am saying here you might be inclined to come and be a part of our station that reaches around the globe.

Facebook is a trap, a prison, a place of bondage, misinformation and disinformation. It keeps the clueless even more clueless. It has succeeded in dumbing down the population to the point where people cannot even have a conversation that makes any sense. We built this station for you. We created this network to be broad in its scope, diverse in its reach and direct and to the point in its action. With all of the negativity and analysis of the current culture we are still committed to education, self empowerment, direct action and the ability to open peoples' eyes to the many harsh, dangerous and deadly realities that are before us.

We get thousands of likes. We reach thousands of people. But what does this mean. How can this be important if people are not directly engaging with us. If they are not directly participating to further our many causes. Jealousy abounds in this network. It is over run with monstrous, out of control egos and self grandizement. It is a catch all for the walking dead. The only hope that we have in this country is to come together directly and work together passionately towards solutions that can pave the road ahead for those young ones in our midst.

I urge you today to be a part of this network. We are not asking you for money. We are not stars looking for fans or groupies. We do not think of ourselves as special in anyway shape, form or fashion. But we have built a solid platform that can be used to change the course of history. But we must do this as a collective unit. We must set short term goals and objectives. We must be able to get along with each other as different as each of us are. Please comment on this work today. Engage with us. Work with us. Let us promote your causes, your creative arts, your music, your books, your dance troops, your poetry. We can bring life to this empty space we call Facebook. We can glean measurable results from our collective unit. We can alter the matrix, the very strand of this web of consciousness. Together we rise. Divided we fall.

APRI PRESENTS: Author Tory Allyn

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Tory Allyn currently resides in Upstate New York. Although born in Syracuse, he was raised in the quaint town of Baldwinsville with his brother and two sisters, who drove him into becoming the crazy person he is today. As a child, he made up many a tale. Some funny; others dark and brooding, but all started him on the path to writing. Today, his nephew, lovingly referred to as The Monster Child, is his partner in crime. Most days, you will see them playing ball at a nearby park, going for a dip in the backyard pool or snowboarding on a popular mountainside. Tory has written his first novel titled, ALTER EGO, has completed a second novel titled, ALTERED STATE, and is currently working on the third which will be titled, ALTER BOUND. All three are a series entitled, THE DAVENPORT DECREES.

About the book – ALTER EGO
Informed by his Captain to retrieve the remnants of a disfigured body, Special Agent JACK STANWICK exited FBI headquarters and raced toward Rockfort, Virginia. As sirens echoed in the distance, he approached the old gravel road that led to Granite's Mill. Jack knew what he was about to see, and with most of 'the brotherhood' dispatched away, outside help was needed. So the experts at the DAVENPORT DETECTIVE AGENCY had to be hired. BREN WILLIAMS, DEREK O'ROURKE and RUSS MUNROE are detectives under the guiding eye of former police chief, RAYMOND DAVENPORT. All four were ex-cops who turned over state's evidence on corruption in their respective precincts, only to be ostracized by the remaining brass. If anyone can immerse themselves fully into ALTER EGO, they can!

APRI PRESENTS: AUTHOR CARRIGAN RICHARDS

About Author Carrigan Richards:

I was born in Cullman, Alabama, but grew up in Birmingham, and moved to Atlanta at 18. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Kennesaw State University. Ever since I was a little kid, I was always making up stories or characters in my head. I’d use my dolls to play out scenes. One day I started writing down the scenes. Nothing ever really came of that, but one day my mom lost her job and I wanted to make her happy, so I wrote her a poem. And another. And another. Soon, I had a whole notebook filled with poems. I continued to write poems and started writing stories a la R.L. Stine. I wrote my first novel at 15 and I’ll never forget my friend in math class asking me every day how far I’d gotten. I wrote another novel when I was 18, and with many years and dedication (and getting sidetracked from school and writing other novels), I finally finished, Pieces of Me.

When I’m not writing (which is rare), I’m spending time with my fiance, family, and friends, listening to music, playing with my sometimes psychotic puppy, or cheering on my Atlanta Braves.

APRI PRESENTS: Maiden Voyage Ministries with Host Kiler Davenport

Maiden Voyage Ministries is a bridge over troubled waters. It is a shining light in a dark world. We live in a very complex and incomprehensible matrix. We understand very little about the world we live in and even less about ourselves. So far nothing has worked to bring us all together. We strive for unity, community, fellowship, solidarity, unification, and that feeling of togetherness and we fail miserably. Our world is slowly dying. We are destroying ourselves, depleting our resources, poisoning our air, water, and land. People are suffering all over the world.Children are starving, innocents are being slaughtered all in the name of God and so called democracy. What if anything can we do to turn this around or at least slow it down and help people once again to feel a sense of peace and security. Tune in as we explore these many challenges that we are all faced with everyday. We invite you to make this station a regular part of your life. Enjoy the program. Share it with friends, family, and coworkers.

APRI PRESENTS: Author Rhea Woodruff

About Author Rhea Woodruff

Born in 1973, Rhea Woodruff was raised in a military family. As a result, she and her family moved every four years. Along the way, she met a number of special people, and had many incredible experiences, both good and bad. As a result of her severe learning disability, she has worked harder than most people to fit in and to do a good job; and as a result she has accomplished much in her life. Rhea loves to write. Her dream has been to become a published author; and with the publication of her first book, Growing Up Special, her dream became reality. "Don't give up on your dreams," says Rhea. "They will come true if you don't give up on them." Rhea lives in New Orleans area and plans to enjoy being an author for the first time while working on her next book.

About Rhea's First Book

When Rhea Mayfield was born, her doctors believed she would never be able to walk or to talk. As a baby, when she wasn't crawling at the stage she should have been, the fact she was suffering from a severe learning disability gradually became clear. However, much more than having a disability, Rhea was, and is, a very determined person who has overcome many obstacles in her life. Rhea has blossomed into the most loving, caring, and well-intentioned individual you could ever meet. All she wants is to be loved and treated like a normal person. Rhea has had a dream of becoming an author; and with uncommon pluck and determination is working hard and striving to achieve that dream. This book is her start. In sharing her story within the powerful and heartfelt pages of GROWING UP SPECIAL, you will meet this extraordinary woman, and find inspiration in her story of triumph over adversity. It is Rhea's hope that you will enjoy it, and come away with the message that disabilities and adversities can be overcome, and that dreams can become reality. If you want to understand her, Rhea says you have to read her book and treat her right.

About Rhea's Second Memoir

When Rhea Woodruff was born, her doctors were concerned. After some testing, they concluded she would probably never walk or talk. As time progressed, Rhea proved them wrong, but the full scope of her developmental delays were clearly evident. Despite her disability, Rhea remained determined to overcome the obstacles in her life, and she has developed into a kind, caring, and capable individual. All she ever wanted was to find love and be treated like everyone else. After much heartache and many disappointments, her dreams of becoming a wife, mother, and author are now a reality. Rhea hopes readers will find inspiration in her candid chronicle of rebounding from adversity. Born Special proves that the toughest challenges in life can be overcome. By sharing the outcome of her personal struggles, Rhea has succeeded in delivering the message that you should never give up on your dreams.

Mark Giglio

I started my adult life with an honorable discharge from the Air Force followed by a degree in English. Along came a wife and a baby boy. Circumstances lead me to follow my own bent and not the one I studied.  I feel I have tasted enough of the bitter and sweet of life to share my notion of the life’s essence in my writing. I’ve always been interested in the connections people have with each other and the world around them. History, humanities, art, philosophy, anthropology, world religions and the natural world have been a fascination for me and a fountain head for inspiration.

APRI PRESENTS: Cross Promote Project brought to you by Alternative Public Radio International

Over the last couple of years we have worked day and night to build a presence on face book. It was very disappointing in the beginning having to find friends and build relationships. As directors, producers, writers, and talk show hosts we were here on face book for a very different reason than most. Our purpose was to build a massive audience, following and fan base for Alternative Public Radio International and to glean support for our missions - advocating for the mentally ill and making people more aware of the tremendous amount of abuse and neglect that is happening to this population. We have also been senior citizen advocates for over 25 years educating the masses on how to navigate this very complicated long term care system, where again abuse and neglect is rampant in the system.

Our objective here has never been about shallow, empty, non-conclusive, clueless social networking. We have always stood on a very strong, solid platform that requires 15 hours a day in the studio making solid connections with other advocates around the world who share our goals and objectives.

As of about a week ago we came up with a plan to start "Project Cross Promote". We know this is being done around the world and we know that some of these cross promotion projects are working very well. Cross promotion and multidimensional marketing is the wave of the future. But most people including authors, musicians, writers, poets and others have a very limited knowledge of how to make this work successfully. If done right cross promotion can build long lasting, powerful, profitable bridges among a very choice group of creative talent.

We have already started the cross promotion project and so far the results have been amazing. This project could be considered street teams on crack. The program is simple. It doesn't cost any money. Measurable results can be realized over night. This is truly an amazingly simple program. It does take time and energy to find folks that you want to cross promote with and then go and promote their pages by inviting ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS to the other members in the group's pages, projects, special events, etc.

We are very surprised to find that only very few people are utilizing this explosive idea. In order to be successful, happy and profitable. You must learn to make social media work for you and overcome the enormous obstacles that one faces when attempting to build a brand.

We are going to be setting up a series of talk shows, video blogs and training seminars to teach those in the creative arts and others how to increase their fan base, customer base, followers and others over night. If you would like to work with us on this program please contact us and let us know. We have the advantage of putting all those who participate on our 27 platforms as well as bring them on air to talk about their project or creative work around the world. You will benefit because we spend 15 hours a day 7 days a week doing this. You maybe thinking why would anyone want to reach out and help total strangers promote their projects and other creative works for free. The answer is short and simple. It helps to build a true and lasting relationship that is beneficial to all who participate. It is a win, win situation. We invite 5,000 people to your page, repost all of your special events and projects on our platforms, share your links on our chat room during our live broadcast, and mention as many of your projects as we can during the week on air.

TO HEAR THE POWERFUL WORDS FROM KILER DAVENPORT CONCERNING THIS POWERFUL CROSS PROMOTION PROGRAM HIT THE PLAY BUTTON ON THE PLAYER BELOW

Email us @ aprifriends2014@gmail.com or send us a private message or leave a comment under this post and let us know if you want to start cross promoting. Many people have asked us will this turn into another group. My answer to that is why not. DO NOT CONTACT US UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PUT IN THE TIME, EFFORT, PASSION, FOCUS AND DETERMINATION TO WORK WITH A TOP GUN GROUP WHO BELIEVES IN TRUE DIGITAL COMMUNITY AND UNDERSTANDS THE DEPTH AND POWER OF THIS PROJECT.

APRI PRESENTS: Alternative Public Radio International and Beyond with Kiler Davenport

Our objective here at Alternative Public Radio International has never been about shallow, empty, non-conclusive, clueless social networking. We have always stood on a very strong, solid platform that requires 15 hours a day in the studio making solid connections with other advocates around the world who share our goals and objectives.

Email us @ aprifriends2014@gmail.com or send us a private message or leave a comment under this video and let us know if you want to start cross promoting.
